Mild Steel

IS:2062 material is low carbon steel, the amount of carbon typically found in it is between 0.10% – 0.25%. It is generally more ductile, machinable, and weldable than high carbon and other steel, however, it is nearly impossible to get hardened by heating and quenching. Its low carbon content also means it has very little carbon and other alloying elements to block dislocations in its crystal structure, generally resulting in less tensile strength than high carbon and alloy steels. It also has a high amount of iron and ferrite, making it magnetic.

IS:2062 Grade is relatively affordable when compared with other steels. It is a popular choice for steel consumers due to its affordability, weldability, and machinability.

SAE 1018 is low carbon steel that is characterized by good weldability, good machinability, high strength, and impact properties in either the normalized or hot forged condition.
