Strength in a Circle

Round steel bars are long, cylindrical metal rods made in steel mills. The process starts with heated steel billets – large blocks of steel. These hot billets are pushed through a series of rolling machines with specially shaped rollers. As the steel passes through, it’s squeezed and stretched into a round shape. The rollers keep turning the steel to make it perfectly circular and smooth all around. This rolling also makes the steel stronger. Once they reach the right size, the long round bars are cooled and cut to length.
